Soledad Howdy, Partners. It’s time you took a trip to the past and visited those golden days of the Old West in Soledad Canyon’s Western Town. Nestled in the shadows of the mountains and cottonwood trees, Western Town takes you back 125 years in time. So, gather all your little buckaroos, boots, hats and cameras, and come spend an hour or a day in Western Town. The corral’s finished and the horses are saddled and ready. Sign up to take a trail ride through the canyon with one of our wranglers. Be sure you work up a big appetite ‘cause your mouth will be a-waterin’ if a Cowboy BBQ is in the making. Just thinking of beef sizzling on the grill, baked beans simmering in a pot, the aroma of apple cobbler baking and of course, cowboy coffee perking over an open fire will set your taste buds all a-tingle. Take time to saunter along the boardwalk and look at all the items in the general store, the Old West’s version of Walmart. Belly-up to the bar in the saloon, order your favorite soft drink and listen to the piano player bang out the songs of the day. You might even spot a few dance hall girls doing what dance hall girls do. Check out all the buildings and the interesting stuff you’ll see there. You can even kick off your boots and rest a spell in the Doc’s rocking chair. Wild West Shows will be coming to town with trick horseback riders and fancy gun shooting. You’ll get to try doing rope tricks, sing along with the cowboys, and listen to cowboys tell stories of life-on-the-range. You might even get to try your hand at some gun shooting. Now, for a word of warning: Be on your best behavior, don’t cheat at cards and watch your back. You never know when a gunfight might break out; or, the sheriff might decide you look just like a culprit on a wanted poster and haul you off to jail. Western Town is open year round. Horseback riding is offered daily except Tuesdays. Wild West Shows, Cowboy BBQ’s and other special events are scheduled on weekends from April to October. There is a charge for horseback riding, Cowboy BBQ’s and some of the special events. Contact Soledad or check the website http://www.1000trails.com/site/page/pg3487-as22.html for event dates and charges. |
